Adhara mudra is the mudra of prosperity. The way one gets their hands into this position properly is an interesting one. We start in prayer position and then open our hands up while the wrists and fingers stay connected and our thumbs extend out, pointing out to either side. We lower our hands to be open as if waiting for water to be poured into our hands, the fingers facing outward away from our abdominals. Our forearms rest on either side and in front of our solar plexus, the third chakra that represents our power.
As I sit in prayer position I notice how comfortable the position is compared to the Adhara mudra. Is it possible, that asking for help, specifically from source is easier than being open to receiving it? How do you feel in both of these positions? Do you notice anything for yourself?
Our hands in this position are both in a state of offering and receiving which in my mind makes sense when wanting to be in touch with our abundance, self worth and prosperity.
This mudra gives all of us the opportunity to explore what prosperity really means to each of us as individuals. Material objects or new adventures such as vacations are wonderful for temporary relieve and enjoyment. Nothing wrong with that! The question really comes in (and only you can answer this) is if you continue to seek more believing it will give you happiness when really you are in fact seeking something much deeper.
While in the position get comfortable and breathe. Meditation is a powerful tool for bringing us back to the present, a guided meditation is a wonderful way to bring our focus to a sensation we wish to experience and it can be a profound way to explore our inner being and the parts of ourselves we are not fully in touch with when going about our day.
Ask yourself, why is that new car or home or even simply more money being available to you important to you? We often get caught up in what society has decided what we “should” be caring about and it is often difficult to really know if it is what our real self wants or how much of it is what we have been taught to desire.
So dig deeper while in this mudra and meditation. Take time to understand when you are driven by the desire to prove something compared to how you may help others.
Is it security that you really seek, is it freedom or a sense of accomplishment? Is it something else? What comes up for you? Do you know that you are already enough? Do you know that those white images are there to represent your ability to write your own script? That you can feel prosperous and abundant without an increase in your bank account? Do you know you can feel it even if your bank account decreases? You can feel this way with or without a life partner? Or that new car, home, vacation or amazing stock pick?
The way to feel your true abundance is similar to the hands in the Adhara mudra. It is both an offering of your true self and an openness to receive.
We each have gifts to share in this world to make our selves whole and to make the world better, it is not our job to complete. It is our job to offer each day our best selves.
Where in your life can you offer who you really are? Where in your life can you accept the gifts of others? These offerings and gifts may or may not be material. Look for where it is already happening. Where in your life can you let go to leave space to know you are already enough and always were. It is time to feel it and know it.
Welcome to your true prosperity.
